Proyecto Manuelito Hope Teams International is working alongside Pastor Jorge Pinto in his ministry to transition street children to more stable living conditions. Raised as an orphan, he understand the needs of the kids who live on the streets of the capital city, Tegucigalpa. Currently rescued street kids are living in a transitional shelter above the sanctuary of the Amor y Vida (love and life) Church. Here they undergo social training, detoxification, begin public education, and experience the love of Christ through a Christian congregation. From there they go to a newly developed facility at Talanga, about one hour from Tegucigalpa. This is close enough to make transportation by car easy, but far enough to keep the bad influences of street life away from the kids. The 33 acre site at Talanga is under continual construction. One dormitory and a caretakers house which now houses the girls, are completed. Nearing completion is the kitchen/dining/multipurpose building. And soon construction will begin on the second dormitory. Hope Teams and several other groups are providing teams to assist with construction and educational needs as well as financial support through our child sponsorship program. |
